Scarponi takes title after Ricco win

Ricco wint opnieuw

Ricardo Ricco heeft ook de slotetappe van de Settimana Lombarda op zijn naam gebracht. De Italiaan van Ceramica Flaminia bleef Andreas Dietziker voor in de sprint. Michele Scarponi werd eindwinnaar van de Ital;iaanse rittenkoers. Tom Jelte Slagter (Rabobank CT) was de beste Nederlander op de 13e stek.

Riccò doubles as Scarponi clinches Lombarda

Riccardo Riccò (Flaminia) won his second stage in three days while Michele Scarponi (Androni) wrapped up overall victory at the Setmana Lombarda in Italy.

Riccò, who won for the first time Saturday since returning from his 20-month doping ban, did it again in Monday’s 153.3km fifth and final stage at the six-day Lombarda race in Bergamo on Monday.

Riccò kicked to victory ahead of Andreas Dietziker (Voralberg), with Jackson Rodríguez (Androni) coming through third as a group of 19 riders roared into Bergman to fight for the spoils.

Scarponi, winner of the prologue, finished 17th safely in the front group that included four other friendly Androni jerseys.

Scarponi, who won the Lombarda race back in 2004, claimed the overall at 22 seconds ahead of Riccò. Przemyslaw Niemiec (Miche) rounded out the podium with third at 37 seconds off the pace.

Settimana Lombarda – Stage 4: Colombian Victory For Serpa Perez

ROME, April 4, 2010 (AFP) – Jose Rodolfo Serpa Colombian Perez (Androni) won Sunday the 4th stage of the Settimana Lombarda, a 152 km trek around Grumello del Monte (northern), after which his team-mate Italian Michele Scarponi was able retain his leader’s jersey.

The classification of the 4th stage:
1. Jose Rodolfo Serpa Perez (Androni) and 152.8 km in 3 hours 28:33 (Average:43.961 km / h)
